The room felt cosy, and the layout worked well. The bed was clean and comfortable, but the room itself was in a really poor state. The TV remote was grimy around the buttons, there was a brown mark down the side of the bed, and one robe had orange foundation around its collar, so I couldn't wear it. The towel warmer was coming away from the wall at the screws, and the main blind wouldn't move either way. WiFi kept cutting out, which was especially frustrating with no mobile service. My sister was in another room and had no connection problems, so it seemed limited to ours. Housekeeping also knocked at 9am, thinking the room was empty. This place badly needs updating.

The room was huge, with a bath right in the middle, and the hotel is small, friendly and affordable. We also enjoyed the restaurant food and drinks. There was a strange issue at breakfast: I asked for lavabred with the vegetarian breakfast and was told the chef didn't want to add it. Another family member asked for the same thing and got the same answer, but when he said that wasn't a valid reason, the chef agreed to do it for him. It still wasn't offered to me. Odd, but it's a nice place overall.

We just came here for dinner. It was excellent value, and both meals were spot on. My partner's lamb shank was delicious, and my steak was cooked perfectly.

Getting here was a bit awkward, as it's off the beaten track. Once there, the service was friendly, attentive and good. Our room was nice, with a very large bathroom, though we could hear water and showers from the adjoining room while trying to sleep. The food was pretty average, and those huge slate key fobs are ridiculous.

Tucked into Bishopston Valley, this is a lovely boutique hotel. The rooms, food and staff were all great. I'd happily recommend a visit.
