Delta Hotels by Marriott Swindon

The fitness centre was a real highlight, and the dining options were acceptable, though the prices felt high for what you got. The rooms seem dated, which may explain why this is a more modest Marriott offering. This was my second visit. The first was positive, but this stay gave me a fuller picture of the service. I was told room 122 was a free upgrade, but it had moths in the bathroom, stains and general rubbish, which suggested housekeeping had let things slip. The sink was blocked as well. Frustratingly, no one answered at reception when I called. It's especially disappointing after my excellent first stay.

We liked the room, the comfortable bed and pillows, and the hotel's facilities, including the gym and swimming pool. But the shower pressure was extremely low and stayed that way until we left. We planned to stay three nights and were annoyed that we couldn't have a proper shower, especially after a long journey. On the morning of our second day, we told reception about it and were promised another room. After our trip, staff moved us in the evening, but the new room still wasn't good. A housekeeper checked the facilities and suggested another move, so we changed rooms twice that evening. We were both exhausted, and it was a bother. The shower and toilet pressure in the final room were even lower than in the others. The receptionist eventually came to check on us, apologized and offered extra drinks and sweets. They said we could speak with the manager at checkout. In the morning, staff apologized again for the uncomfortable, unpleasant experience and hoped to offer some extra treats as compensation. They did try their best to communicate with us and not leave us too disappointed. Based on the service, I still recommend a visit.

My daughter and I had such a lovely evening. The ribeye steaks were perfectly cooked, with three tasty sauces, and the puddings were divine. The apple strudel tart was heavenly! I was there for a business meeting and found the location quaint. The front office staff were courteous, and I had the full English breakfast at the attached hotel throughout my stay. The masala omelette was top notch. My one pet peeve was the lack of water in the room, which came as a shock. You can get still or sparkling water at reception, but you need a bottle and have to make multiple trips.
