The food at The Huntsman in Little Wenlock was excellent: piping hot, generous portions and really delicious. We had booked dinner in advance. Dave gave us a warm welcome, and the waitress was friendly and attentive all evening. We were looking for a pub stopover and, before arriving, I phoned David to check whether we could stay overnight in the car park with electric hook-up. He confirmed there was space, and when we arrived they'd thoughtfully coned it off for us, a great start to the visit. It's safe, peaceful and extremely quiet. We'd happily recommend it.

The food was tasty and we enjoyed it, though we didn't try the bar. Maybe I'm being a little petty, but I ordered gammon and got half a small tomato and one small mushroom alongside it. There were lots of lovely chips, but the meal was very dry. That disappointed me enough to bring the rating down.

The view was beautiful, and the staff were really helpful and attentive throughout. My partner and I came for Sunday lunch and ordered the sharing platter. It was absolutely phenomenal, with every element spot on. I used to be part of the team managing this pub, so it's great to see the standards not just maintained but raised.

Service was okay and there weren't many customers, but the Sunday roast at Huntsman was a very poor experience. We ordered the sharing platter served in a giant Yorkshire pudding. It was tasteless, dry, tough and unpleasant, like beaten-up leftovers with overdone potatoes, as if it had come from a microwave. A very average meal, honestly below average. We won't be back.

The location is lovely and always will be. Maybe we'll try coming back in summer when the sun's out, but we won't be rushing back after this visit. We came some time ago and had a fantastic experience, but this time the room was freezing despite the log fire. After three requests to warm it up, nobody seemed bothered while we sat in our coats trying to enjoy a birthday meal together. One starter arrived very late, which was bizarre considering it was garlic cheesy bread. The bar staff did remove the first round of drinks after we discussed the problems. We weren't really concerned about getting a discount, though. We just wanted to enjoy our friend's birthday meal. The experience wasn't positive. We didn't stay overnight, so please ignore my room score.
