Park Hotel

We had a very good stay at the hotel too: it was clean, comfortable and welcoming, with fantastic towels in the bathroom and a nice view over the town from our room. But this review is mostly about the restaurant. The food was straightforward comfort food, perfectly prepared. The steak pie was flawless, with beef that melted in your mouth, wonderfully flaky puff pastry and the best gravy I've ever had. The vegetables were cooked just right, and the brandy snap base on my banoffee dessert was delicious. The soup of the day was a somewhat Thai-inspired coconut and squash. It had the warmth you'd expect from a harvest soup, but the coconut kept it light enough for summer.

The service was slow, but it was extremely busy, so that was to be expected. Even so, it was really top notch. The rooms were amazing, very clean and had all the amenities, plus a bath.

We had a meal at the restaurant and it was so good. We stayed for one night, and the rooms were clean with heated mats in the bed. The only downside was that the rooms were freezing cold.

We were camping when the storm hit, so we came here for a calm night. We arrived way too early, running from the storm with the kids, and they even let us check in early. Thanks!
