The Quarrymans Rest

The owners were so helpful. We ordered a takeaway, and the owner let us know when it arrived and even brought us plates. They cooked us breakfast too, despite us coming down 15 minutes late. Everything was well cooked, and breakfast was included with the room. We expected one room for four people, but were pleasantly surprised to get a suite with two rooms and a bathroom. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were affordable. It was only 5 pound more than Travelodge, but felt like much better value. This is one of the most impressive Inns I’ve stayed in, a very vintage place in the quaint village of Bampton. Very satisfied!

We went for the Friday night curry and had a great evening. There was a large choice, and everything was cooked from scratch that evening. Congratulations to the chef. The landlord was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was lovely. We weren’t in any hurry to leave. Thanks!

The owners were friendly and welcoming, and were relaxed about letting us pay when it suited us and leave later than the preferred 10:30 checkout. The rooms are dated, though mostly liveable. Breakfast was too greasy for my liking. As I was leaving, I noticed the plug socket behind the bed and didn’t see the owner to alert them, so I hope they see this and fix it before anything happens. For what you get, I’d say it’s more of a £40-£50 a room kind of stay.

All four steaks were cooked to order and arrived a few minutes after the starter plates had been cleared. Our two starters came within 15 minutes of ordering. We’d booked a table for four and were offered a choice of where to sit since it wasn’t busy. The only downside was that they don’t specialise in coffee. Very good overall.
