The Ram At Tivetshall

The place itself is gorgeous and the food was excellent, but dealing with the staff was a problem throughout. A smile and a warm welcome would have made a difference. I don't think I'll go back.

There was a great atmosphere at our Christmas lunch, and the meal was excellent and extremely well priced. My friends and I were very pleased with the exceptional service. There's plenty of car parking. It gets very busy, so book ahead if you want a meal. Even just stopping in for a drink would be worth a visit.

At 7.50pm on a Friday, we arrived without a booking and were told the kitchens had closed. The place was still very busy, and since it's a hotel, we thought that was rather poor. We left and found another local pub that could fit us in and serve us a lovely meal.

We live in the next village and have been coming to The Ram for years, through its highs and lows. We don't use the hotel, just come for family meals and drinks, and wanted to give it another try. The staff were lovely, and sitting outside with a cold drink during the heat wave was nice. It had a relaxed feel and was busy with both guests and walk-ins. Sadly, the meal was very bad. I felt I'd wasted £100 treating everyone. The garlic bread was just warmed ciabatta, with neither garlic nor butter. No one came by during the meal to check on the food or drinks. The mains were below average: the mustard chicken was mostly cream with hardly any mustard, and there was no rice. We were given chips instead of hassle back. They were overcooked and hard, and the presentation and quality were below average. Nothing on the menu really stood out. Father's brioche bun was cheap and hard to eat. For the price, it was a letdown.
