Hedley House Hotel

The owners and staff were so welcoming during our couple of nights at Hedley Hotel last week. The room was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The bed was soooo comfortable, and the Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom was a lovely bonus for enjoying a bubbly bath with my music on. It was a fabulous hotel, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.

We came as a mother and daughter looking for rest and relaxation with on-site facilities, and weren’t disappointed. On Saturday night we spent over an hour in the jacuzzi with bubbles and wine, just relaxing. We’d also booked the in-house masseuse, a lovely friendly lady whose hands were a wonder. I practically floated back to the room afterwards. Our ground floor triple family room had a double and single bed, a sofa, and a small chair. It was clean and comfortable, with useful extras including a small heater and fan, an iron, and an ironing board. I rarely sleep well because of my medical condition, but I slept through the first night. The mattress and pillows on the single bed were perfect. I even joked with the receptionist that I might put them in the car boot and take them home. Breakfast was a light buffet. The sourdough bread was especially popular, and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly. The only small drawback was that my daughter would have liked something sweet, like a mini muffin or croissant. We slept well again, had another yummy breakfast, then checked out. The staff were very helpful and said to book direct next time to get parking included. Staff were friendly and helpful from the cheerful greeting at reception right through to wishing us a safe drive home. At check-in, the woman at the desk helped with our luggage and went with my daughter to show her the car park. If you want a place a short walk from town with comfortable beds and friendly people looking after you, this is for you.

The breakfast was tasty and excellent value, and I’d highly recommend this for a break in charming York. We had a lovely, relaxing weekend and couldn’t fault anything. The staff were friendly and attentive, and our excellent room was very clean with a big, comfy bed. The little extras, including high quality toiletries and facial products, were fab.

The jacuzzi was the perfect finishing touch to our stay. We spent two lovely nights at this charming, comfortable hotel, which was quiet and peaceful despite being so close to the town centre. The hospitality was exceptional, and when we return, we’ll definitely stay here again. A big shoutout to the wonderful staff, especially Harrison and the lovely Latvian lady serving breakfast.
