Room 14 was an amazing luxury duplex suite, with loads of space, a secluded private hot tub and fantastic sea views over the bay. It’s an “upside down” house, and we stayed for two nights with our cockerpoo, Benji. Kirsty gave us a very warm welcome, helped us through check-in and showed us everything. She also shared useful local knowledge and recommended lovely walks with our dog. We had dinner at the hotel on the first night, and both the food and service were incredible. A member of staff welcomed us in the lounge, though I didn’t quite catch her name. Craig, from the family that owns the hotel, looked after us at the table and knew the menu inside out. We followed his recommendations and had a delightful meal. Full compliments to chef patron Neil. Chapeau! Craig also told us fascinating details about the history of the Orestone Manor. He’s a real credit to the hotel. All the staff were warm and welcoming, always eager to help. We highly recommend it, you’ll have an experience you remember forever.

The staff were friendly, there was plenty of parking and the food was excellent at Orestone Manor. We first went for afternoon tea and were so impressed that we returned for Sunday roast. It didn’t disappoint, the food was great quality and we had a really enjoyable visit.

We were lucky enough to have lunch here on Christmas Day. The welcome and service were great, and the food was amazing. A definite 10 out of 10, and our guest was very impressed too. It was like their Sunday lunch, but with far more on offer. No wonder people come back year after year.

The reception staff were friendly, professional and informative, and the other staff we met on the way to our room were pleasant too. The room was at the top of the building, with lovely views, and it was peaceful and comfortable. The location is great for peace and quiet. I’d rate it either a great 6/10 or a disappointing 7/10, and I think it could be improved quite easily. Coming from the north, there’s a very sharp hairpin bend down to Orestone Manor, and the signs are a little dated. Parking was plentiful, though the area needed some TLC for a 4-star place. The front looks pleasant, but signs and barriers create clutter. Things are starting to feel tired, with lots of pointless or uninspiring pictures hanging around. There are too many signs in the room as well, maybe keep them in the welcome book. The staff seemed good at their jobs, but breakfast was a letdown. Each part was adequate, but not what I’d expect from 4 stars. Everything came in miniature: half-size croissants, cheap jams, sausage that seemed to have been cooked twice, streaky bacon, half a small tomato, half a mushroom, and small sliced toast. The orange juice and coffee were cheap too. Unfortunately, we missed out on dinner, and I would have liked to try it. This is just one person’s review.

We had afternoon tea in the terrace conservatory, with lovely views across the gardens and out to sea. It was quiet, and we were welcomed and seated by the windows. The staff were friendly and attentive, and we didn’t have to wait long for the food. The sandwiches, cakes and scones were delicious. You can pick the finger sandwich fillings, which was handy as we don’t like coronation chicken. I did wish there’d been a choice of teas, but it was unlimited, and we got a fresh pot halfway through the cakes. I also liked the fresh strawberries. At £25 per head in Sept 25, it was good value and the food quality was very good, apart from the scones. They were dry and would have been better warmed, but there was plenty of jam and clotted cream to make up for it. There’s a large terrace and lounge for guests to use, and no one made us feel rushed. I could have lounged there all afternoon. I’d definitely recommend it. We didn’t stay over, but they have 14 guest rooms, a cost bar and holiday accommodation.
