The Chequers Inn

The Crème Brûlée was especially lovely. It's a lovely pub, with a spacious outdoor area, and both the food and service were brilliant. The prices felt fair for the quality.

There's plenty of room inside, but it still feels cosy when it's cold. In the heart of the island's southern countryside, it's a family-friendly pub and restaurant, and a good stop for walkers, with several footpaths leading right there. The garden and children's play area look great for warmer days. There's a good bar selection and lots of food options too.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful with our Sunday roast. My husband and I both had a delicious meal, with tender meat, a lovely choice of vegetables and trimmings, and rich, tasty gravy. I love a carvery, and this was the best I've ever had. I'd love to come again, but we're from the mainland, so it's a bit of a trek for Sunday dinner.

The pub garden was amazing, and the kids loved it. The food was good quality with generous portions for the price, and the service was friendly and quick. It felt warm and welcoming from start to finish.
