The staff were friendly and helpful, and the carvery was lovely, with a good vegetarian choice. We did feel rushed once we found out there was a time limit, though. It would’ve been nice to know about that beforehand.

We came for dinner, so I can’t say anything about the rooms. The meal was lovely and the waiter struck a nice balance, attentive without checking on us constantly. It’s well placed for nearby walks and towns. We’d definitely recommend it and come back.

The food is always really nice, and both the wait staff and carvery staff are pretty good. But while we were paying, I saw someone I assume was a manager loudly tell off another staff member, a guy with a viking goatee. He’d seated waiting customers instead of making them stand, and the manager said, “if they have to wait, they have to wait.” It came across as unnecessarily aggressive and unprofessional. The whole family felt awkward watching it. That sort of conversation should happen away from customers, behind closed doors.

The room had a good selection of tea and coffee, and the bed was comfortable. It was well equipped, and the location was brilliant. The restaurant and bar staff were friendly and happy to cater to our needs. I’ll come back next time I’m in the area.
