We were glad it was only one night. The family room was unexpectedly poor, old-fashioned and dirty, with cracked paint and skirting boards, and grimy old light fittings. Even the mismatched bulbs added to the unpleasant feel. The bathroom had dirt ground into the floor, and I couldn't look at it for long without wanting to leave. A radiator kept clicking and buzzing when it came on, so we barely slept. The breakfast room was unpleasant and badly laid out, and one particularly abrupt staff member made the atmosphere worse. I raised my concerns at reception; they listened and refunded breakfast, but I didn't feel that was enough of a response, and worry little will change.

We were there with a football group, and the place was ideally located for our match the next day, though sadly we lost. There was a key issue, so each room got only one key. Breakfast was lovely, and the staff were excellent. People, including me, were moving tables before the food arrived because the kids wanted to sit together.

The room was dreadful and unclean. The radiator made a horrendous racket whenever it tried to heat the room, so after a few hours I had to switch it off and sleep in the cold. I told the staff, but all they could say was that the place was falling apart. Save your money and don't stay here.

The full breakfast was excellent, the service was good, and the restaurant seats were comfortable. The room itself was clean and comfortable too. More cleaning or fresh towels can be requested. There was plenty of advisory information in the room. I wouldn't recommend a room next to the car park. Getting out of the car park towards Mirfield takes patience because of the traffic.

I'm from brighouse and come back often to visit family. I stayed here years ago and wasn't impressed, but thought I'd try it again. We arrived at a decent hour, but the man checking us in wasn't welcoming and gave us keys without explaining where to go, parking, or breakfast. We didn't book breakfast because our granddaughter was with us and we never know when she'll wake, as she's not a good sleeper. At nine, when it was quiet, the restaurant staff and the same receptionist were both snotty because we hadn't booked. They said we'd have to wait 45 minutes. I pointed out the empty tables and how quiet the car park looked, but he said everything was booked and we could wait to see how busy it got. I decided to leave before things got worse. We had a lovely day, then came back around eight to find the room hadn't been done because we hadn't told them. They could have explained that when we checked in. Maybe it sounds minor, but reception is the face of the hotel. A smile and a welcome should be standard. My wife has been a hotel manager for over 20 years, and I've driven coach tours for nearly 47 years, staying in over 109 hotels a year, so miserable, unhelpful staff really annoy me. The local Tesco does a nice breakfast.
