The Bridge Hotel And Spa

Our guests have since told us how friendly and lovely everyone was during their stay, and we couldn’t be more grateful for how well the day went. Marie and Tyler were brilliant toastmasters, keeping things moving through the day and evening and checking we were all right. Jen at reception was so kind the day before and on the wedding day, always asking if I was okay or needed food whenever I came out of the room. Becky, our wedding coordinator, was fantastic throughout, quick to answer every question from the booking stage through to after the wedding. She checked in with us that morning too, and nothing felt like too much trouble. We got married at the bridge on 28.02.26, and the whole day was amazing. Thank you all so much.

We lasted just an hour and a half before we’d had enough, then gave up on the meal included with our voucher. The table was booked for 19:15, but when I asked whether it could be moved earlier, the polite woman at the desk didn’t seem sure when service started and suggested 18:00 or 18:30. That left us facing an hour in the bar or waiting in the car, so we headed home. The staff were pleasant and professional, explained where things were and what we could use. The facilities, though, weren’t what we’d expected. We’d enjoyed a wedding reception here before, and this was a Christmas Groupon gift, so we weren’t expecting five-star luxury. We had three hours to use the spa, but going back and forth between the hot tub, sauna, steam room and relaxation room got boring pretty quickly. The tubs had hair and dirt in them, a film on the water, and lots of discoloured foam that looked like sea foam and made the brown dirt visible. After about 15 minutes, we moved on to the sauna, which was fine and just what you’d expect. The steam room had a constant loud, hissing engine-like sound, so it wasn’t relaxing. The sleep/relaxation room smelled damp, like a wet dog, and looked like a Temu furniture showroom. We didn’t stay long, and the colouring books in the corner didn’t tempt us to linger. The changing room was tiny; with more than two people, we’d have been getting changed on top of each other. We also skipped the shower because black mould was clearly visible at the bottom of the basin. Grim, really.

Our guests had lovely things to say about the day, especially the food, and there’s nothing I’d change, rain included. We married at The Bridge Hotel on Saturday, 07.02.26, and it felt magical from start to finish. The venue was stunning, and the staff made us feel special with how attentive and kind they were. Becky, our wedding co-ordinator, took so much of the planning stress away and made everything feel manageable. The carvery was hot, which matters, though the beef was tough. The service was so helpful that they brought me a steak knife when I asked. Staff were cheerful and ready to help before we even needed to ask. People call the place dated, but it’s an 18th century Coach Inn and seems to be keeping its old character. Peeling paint on the ceiling and wallpaper on the walls only added to that for me. It’s handy for the motorway, although you can’t actually reach it from the motorway, which isn’t The Bridge’s fault. I imagine it would be much busier if access were easier. We’d happily come back, which probably says enough.
