The hosts were so friendly and kind, and I really enjoyed chatting with Simona. Breakfast was superb, made with high-quality ingredients. The house and garden are beautiful, with lots of original features, and my room was warm, comfortable, and super clean. I’d definitely recommend this guesthouse and hope to return.

We had a really relaxing visit in December. The hosts were welcoming and attentive, and the fresh breakfast included local produce from vendors they support. Their commitment to sustainability also shows in the vegan, sustainable bath products. Our room was clean, and the jetted bathtub was a lovely extra. We’d recommend it to couples looking for a restful weekend.

The location worked really well for us, about a five-minute walk into Windermere and 25 minutes to Bowness. Breakfast was included, and the continental spread was delicious, with plenty for us in both quality and quantity. We had a comfortable bed, good linen and a great shower in our lovely room, though the decor throughout is quite traditional. The hosts gave us one of the warmest welcomes I’ve had at a B&B, and the bottle of bubbly and chocolates for New Year were a lovely surprise. We arrived as guests and left as friends. First visit to Beaumont House, and hopefully not our last. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The way the “spa” is advertised is very misleading. It’s actually the local health center, a 10-minute drive away, not a spa at the property. We arrived at 9pm and found out check-in had closed at 6pm. I’ve never been charged an extra £45 simply for arriving after 6, and I think that policy is unreasonable. The staff member was extremely rude when my heavily pregnant friend, exhausted after a long journey, asked if we could quickly go to our room so she could rest. We were told, “that’s not an excuse just because you’re pregnant.” It felt disrespectful and completely unprofessional. We were also repeatedly told to keep quiet after 6pm, which made the place feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming, almost like being back at school. This is advertised as a 5-star property, but the service, charges and lack of hospitality fell far short. I wouldn’t recommend it.

After a nearly six-hour drive from London, the way we were treated left us shocked and uncomfortable. We’d told the guest house in advance that we expected to arrive around 9pm, after the 6pm check-in time, and the woman who messaged us initially seemed polite and understanding. I even called from the road to confirm. The person who answered was suddenly demanding and rude, saying “under no circumstances” would they open the door if we were late. Before we got there, impatient messages kept asking for our ETA. We arrived just after 9 as agreed. The woman opened the door, then whispered and told us the house was full and we had to be quiet and “respect the rules,” before we’d even said anything. When my partner asked politely why we needed to whisper, she snapped that we could leave and find somewhere else if we didn’t like it. She called us late and disrespectful, kept saying it was her house, and spoke in a condescending way. It escalated from 0 to 10 immediately. I’m pregnant, and when I calmly said we weren’t there to argue, she dismissed me with, “Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean anything.” Breakfast the next morning looked so poor that we didn’t stay to eat. Later I saw that my booking had been cancelled, which seemed likely to stop me leaving a review. I found that unacceptable. She was rude and unhelpful, and after a tiring journey we were shown no hospitality or respect. We’re Hungarian and speak English perfectly well, but she refused to speak Hungarian and acted as though she didn’t understand it, even though she speaks it fluently. Booking.com lists Hungarian among her languages. That felt rude and gave me the impression she looks down on her own people. It was a very disappointing stay.
