There was mould around the bath and shower, and the room was bare and outdated. Someone had sprayed something with such a strong chemical smell that I was coughing and struggling to breathe. Reception staff seemed nice at first, but when I raised the room problems, they weren’t interested and said, “Don't know what to say.” They also didn’t know how to put things right. The car park was full of rubbish and potholes, and the hotel grounds stank of weed. The Breakfast To Go had no suitable choice for a dairy allergy. This hotel isn’t suitable for families. I’m appalled by Travelodge’s lack of response to the problems we faced, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel or any of their others now.

There’s no food available here. The rooms have basic tea and coffee making facilities, but Starbucks in the car park closes early on Sunday evenings. The main problem is driving into the car park: you turn off a busy, fast road, and in the dark or rain the deep potholes are hard to see, so it’d be easy to damage your car.

After checking in, the place looked tired and run down. A couple of lights flickered, the toilet seat was very loose, and there wasn’t much toilet paper. The TV kept breaking up, so it wasn’t enjoyable to watch. There were also people smoking drugs at the front entrance.

The staff were friendly, but this was the worst Travelodge I’ve stayed in. The room smelled, wasn’t very clean and was really outdated.

The room was damp and very smelly, and the towels they gave us were dirty. Thank goodness I’d packed my own. The heater didn’t work, the lights weren’t good, and there was a big spider on the ceiling. The ventilation wasn’t good either. We may have been given a room at the back, and the window seemed to have a way for insects to get in. There wasn’t a proper, safe place to park. It really was expectation versus reality.
