Findon Manor

Breakfast was lovely, and the man serving it was very polite and kept everything topped up. We were all squeezed into a side room that wasn’t large enough for our party. Aside from the breakfast food, though, the stay was very disappointing and not cheap. I wouldn’t recommend it. We booked the whole hotel for our wedding night so close family and friends could stay together and have breakfast the next morning. The hotel asked us for a detailed spreadsheet listing room assignments and contact details, and said they’d contact guests to take deposits. That never happened, and communication beforehand was poor. We stayed in December, and when we returned to our rooms, the windows had been left wide open. They were freezing, and everyone slept badly. I was especially concerned for my 86 year old grandad. I don’t know whether there was heating, but it certainly wasn’t on. The bathrooms had nice toiletries, but the showers only dribbled water. The lady at the desk, who seemed to be in charge, was rude, grumpy and cold to everyone. She kept asking people to pay when they already had, because their payments hadn’t been recorded anywhere. She didn’t try to smile and I’m not even sure she spoke to us once. The most upsetting part was that a pair of designer sunglasses and my mum’s ring went missing. The ring belonged to her mum, who is no longer with us. It has no real monetary value, but it’s irreplaceable, and was accidentally left in the bathroom. When my mum asked, the response was an uninterested, “haven’t found anything, we’ll let you know.” It was in a very obvious place, so it will have been found. Clearly someone has decided to keep it, which is really upsetting. We got the same nonchalant response when asking about the sunglasses, and haven’t heard anything since.

We hired both event rooms and booked all the rooms at Findon Manor for my grandmother in law’s 80th birthday weekend. The party meal was incredible, and breakfast was great too. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The rooms were lovely, each with its own character that suited the building and its surroundings. We couldn’t fault the service or our stay, and will definitely come back for a quiet weekend break.

I’d go back in a heartbeat 💓. My family booked me in as a treat while I was in town for my 94 year old uncle’s funeral. I arrived at 9.30pm and was warmly welcomed. After a four hour drive from Leicestershire, my cousin and I went to the bar for a much needed drink. My room was spotlessly clean, very large, and had a four poster bed and a spacious, well-appointed bathroom. I slept very well, and breakfast in the lovely dining room was delicious.

The hotel was extremely busy when we arrived, with two post funeral events, but the staff still made sure we had a parking space and gave us a warm welcome. Dinner was excellent and the service was great, and breakfast was very good too. Our double room was clean and comfortable, though it could use a little refresh. It’s an old traditional English building. We’d highly recommend Findon Manor, very good value compared with the chain hotels.
