The town centre and local amenities are easy to reach on foot, with a nice mix of coffee shops and restaurants and a good main shopping centre. There are lovely churches around, and the people are friendly. Staff were warm, helpful and accommodating, and our room was clean, tidy and had the facilities we needed.

I left feeling stressed and uncomfortable after staying here from 2nd-4th January. I’d booked two rooms well ahead, one double and one twin, and had also asked for connecting rooms. We were given an interconnecting family room, but its connecting door was locked. I had to go back to reception to report it. There were no towels despite the hotel knowing three guests were staying, so I had to ask for those too. A bald male staff member with glasses made us wait while he opened the door, saying, “you’ll need to stay here, you can’t go up until I can tell you.” I understand safety matters, but his manner was rude and made an already inconvenient situation worse. Breakfast on 3rd January was another problem. We hadn’t been told in advance that we needed to book, and the website didn’t make that clear either. We were on a tight schedule. We followed the “Please wait to be seated” sign downstairs, then waited over 40 minutes without being acknowledged, even though the server, a woman in her late 30s-40s, cleared tables and warmly greeted people who arrived after us. We eventually left with no breakfast. The receptionist Morgan, who had blue hair, said cooked food would take time, which we understood, but she showed no empathy and spoke dismissively. She asked why we didn’t just have continental breakfast. We’d paid extra for Premier hot breakfast, so that wasn’t what we wanted. When I asked for email confirmation of the breakfast refund, Morgan said they don’t provide those, only an invoice, and that the second refund would be processed “when she had the chance.” I found that odd and unprofessional. At checkout on 4th January, she didn’t greet us and remained blunt, while being friendly and polite to other guests. My friends and I felt uncomfortable and discriminated against, particularly as we’re from a minority background. There were other issues in the rooms: hair all over one toilet, too few towels, a very weak hairdryer, extremely thin pillows, and no door guard or chain. The room was smelly too, with a horrible damp smell coming from the bathroom. I was concerned about security because anyone could use the lift to reach the rooms. I came to Yeovil for an event and to see friends, expecting a pleasant getaway. Instead, it was the worst hotel stay I’ve had, despite having travelled widely and stayed at places in every price range. Calling it a “Premier Inn” felt misleading, since there was nothing premier about the service. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I paid £145 for one night, and the restaurant was closed. The room felt tired, was dirty, and had a horrible damp smell coming from the bathroom. After a long, exhausting day, all I wanted was my key and a bed. Instead, the reception staff member put on a strange performance and tried humour that wasn’t funny. I nearly lost my temper but managed to hold it together. It’s a poor hotel that needs a complete overhaul.

Rory and Fran in hospitality are always so welcoming and friendly. They’re a great example of how front of house should be run. Charlie in the kitchen has also been a star, handling coeliac-safe food confidently and competently. I use Premier Inn fairly often for work, and the Yeovil one is a favourite. The rooms are well looked after and the location is handy. I’ve never left unhappy.
