Breakfasts were absolutely delicious, and the staff were very friendly. I found my stay relaxing and more like home than an average hotel. There was a good selection of drinks at the bar and in the room, and my Queen room had big dispensers of shampoo and body wash, conditioner, hand soap, and body lotion. The Queen room is perfect for one guest. I’ll definitely come back on my next visit to York.

The bar area and bedrooms are really comfortable, and York centre is only a few minutes’ walk away. Parking is first come, first served, so it could be tricky, though it wasn’t an issue for us. You can’t park on the road because it’s permit only. I’d definitely come back.

Don’t miss breakfast, it’s really excellent. This was my second stay at Clementine’s, and I can’t rate it highly enough. The staff are welcoming and friendly, and the rooms are well equipped, always spotless, and have generous tea trays, which are essential!

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ Rooms: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ Location: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ The room was the main letdown. We paid well over £100 a night for a “small double,” but it was tiny, probably about 3m x 3m. The decor was lovely, though it seemed designed to look good rather than work well. There was no fridge, the shower pressure was dreadful and got worse whenever someone else used water, and the thin walls meant we heard the neighbouring rooms all Saturday night. Breakfast was fine, but portions were small and eggs cost extra. £15 to take the handwash felt steep, and the £15 per night parking fee hadn’t been made clear on the Booking.com listing. We also paid £35 for flowers, which were lovely and fair value, but £12 for six small truffle chocolates seemed poor value. The location was good, around 15 minutes from York centre, and staff were polite and friendly enough, doing their best when we needed help. My partner and I found the stay okay, but not worth the price. It looks the part, but doesn’t deliver on comfort or practicality. At best it’s okay, and far too expensive for what you get. If you’re over 15 stone, you might struggle to get into the bathroom comfortably, the space was that tight. (See attached image.)

The room was so lovely and cosy, and I wish we’d stayed more than one night. Check-in was quick and easy, the service was lovely, and someone showed us to our room. It was beautiful, the bed was really comfortable, and it had everything we needed. The bathroom was spacious and the shower amazing. Teddy was a big bonus too, so friendly and cute. Thanks for such a lovely, sadly short stay!
