York is a great location, but we left after one night instead of staying for both nights we’d booked. The room faced a Wetherspoons and was noisy even with the window shut. It also felt too hot despite the heating being off. The room was small, the bathroom needed a more thorough clean, and the water pressure was poor. There was no drinking water, and the TV was just a monitor on the sideboard. It felt expensive for the stay we ended up having. At check-in, staff were simply there, and while I know Travelodge isn’t a luxury hotel, we expected the room to match the photos.

Our room was clean and fairly comfortable, though the bed springs were noticeable and the cheap pillows were lumpy. The hotel is very close to central York, which suited us perfectly. There’s a pub right next door that’s handy for breakfast.

I’ve stayed a few times. The room is comfortable for the price, but it gets really stuffy at night because the window faces a busy main road. A fan would help. The shower cubicle also needs non-slip flooring.

I have mixed feelings. The hotel is nice enough and well located if you don’t mind having a pub on the ground floor. But Wi-Fi costs extra, which seems ridiculous in 2026. The only breakfast option is a takeaway box, even though the website advertises a buffet. I was disappointed by what was in the box, too.

Reception staff were around and lent us an iron and ironing board. The room itself was OK, spacious but very basic, and the hotel’s code-operated elevators were new to us. There’s only one small towel, so you have to choose between using it as a hand towel or a floor towel. Our room overlooked the courtyard of the Wetherspoons next door, where people were smoking and sitting outside. Noise was obvious as soon as we arrived. There were drunken men making noise into the evening, and when we got back at 11 it carried on until around midnight. Closing the window didn’t seem to help. Reviews probably vary depending on which room you get.
