The apartment has flat access, step-free entry, and enough room to move around comfortably in a wheelchair. The floor is flat too. But the cleaning and service need serious attention, and the price calls for a much better experience. When I arrived, the room was still dirty and clearly hadn’t been properly prepared after the previous guests. Dirty glasses had been left behind, rubbish was piled up, and it didn’t feel ready for anyone new. Basic items were missing as well: there was no soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, or bottled water, and the facial tissues were completely gone. The advertised 1-liter milk wasn’t provided either, which was frustrating because the listing didn’t match what we actually got. I hope management improves the housekeeping and service, and makes sure the advertised details match the guest experience.

The bed was really comfortable, and the shower facilities were great. We stayed one night in this lovely little apartment, with the bedroom upstairs and the kitchen and living area downstairs. The included amenities were brilliant, including toiletries, a hairdryer, and a washer-dryer. There was some exposed wiring and a few patched holes that hadn’t been painted over. None of the wiring seemed unsafe, just unsightly, but there was also a large crack in the kitchen side that you could catch yourself on if you weren’t careful. It didn’t spoil our stay. We really enjoyed it and would stay again.

The wet room was nice, though it felt a bit of a death trap. A shower mat would help. The place was nice enough and well appointed, but the welcome email was wrong about having six parking spaces. I spent 20 minutes trying to find the two remaining spaces, then another 40 queuing for the nearby multistorey. There was no TV remote, so the TV was redundant.

Once we got inside, the apartment was comfortable and gave us easy access to all the delights of the city. But getting in was a real problem. The owner texted us the entry code, and when it didn’t work, he didn’t answer our texts and turned on his voicemail. We were left outside for an hour and a half until the cleaner let us into the larger apartment next door. While we waited, another visitor told us they’d also waited 40 minutes to get into their room, so it seems like this may be a pattern.

The location is perfect for visiting the area. It’s a 2-minute walk to the old city wall, about 10 minutes to the minster cathedral, York museum, and the lovely garden at the old abbey. The old streets, shopping centre, castle museum, and railway museum are all within a 30-minute walk. The bed, sofa, and furniture were all new and comfortable, which made the place feel warm, clean, convenient, and like home. For the price, I’d say this is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Highly recommend.
