Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Albany

I booked because the reviews seemed decent and they accept dogs. I wish I’d seen a warning like this, so please go somewhere else. The room was disgusting. Dirt covered the floors and baseboards, and there wasn’t a single hook, shelf, or dresser to hang clothes or keep things off the floor. Other people’s hair was all over the pillows, and there was hair in the shower. Mold covered the shower surround where it meets the tub. The handle was broken, so getting hot or cold water, or turning it on and off, felt like a crapshoot. Then the handle fell off. The main and bathroom doors didn’t line up or latch. The main door’s deadbolt couldn’t be used, and the bathroom door wouldn’t stay shut, so it couldn’t lock. Worst of all, the ground-floor room opened directly outside and its lock was completely loose. The latch was also missing four screws. Luckily, my husband is a contractor and we had a drill and screws in the truck. I don’t know how this qualifies as a hotel. It felt more like a per-hour motel.

Roaches were in my room, and unfortunately I found them again when I opened the door to the replacement room. The staff member was very accommodating and tried to move me to the larger part of the hotel. The front desk worker was gracious and gave me a partial refund. The staff that night were helpful and wonderful, but I’ll never stay there again.

I’ve stayed in plenty of motels, and this one stands out. The rooms were very clean, housekeeping did a great job, and the front desk team was extremely helpful. When my leg was broken, one staff member even helped carry my luggage to my room. Their kindness made the stay comfortable and memorable. Highly recommend!

The suite could’ve earned a better rating if it had been clean. I had to wash out the jacuzzi and clean the sink and toilet because of stains and hair. The bathroom floor was dirty, and so were the shower walls.
