La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham-Albany GA

We’re from Jacksonville, Florida, and after my father-in-law passed away, this hotel became an affordable home for us. As Bonvoy members, we were a little unsure about staying outside that brand, but we found the room clean, spacious, quiet, and comfortable. The staff made a hard, long week feel more supported. The front desk was so welcoming and helpful, and the manager was friendly and easy to talk to. As we went out to events, staff offered comfort when we left and welcomed us back. Their kindness meant a lot. Thank you all so much.

The breakfast was outstanding, and the service was exceptional. My room was clean from floor to ceiling and smelled great when I arrived; the sheets were clean and smelled fresh too. It was quiet enough that I slept like a baby. The location is convenient, with just about anything nearby and easy to reach on foot. From the moment I entered the lobby until I used my key card at the room, I had a good experience. If I visit Albany again, I might stay here.

The $25 incidental hold still hadn’t been refunded a day later, and I don’t know what it was for. I’ll update this as the charges work out. The location suited us for a family reunion a couple of exits away, and check-in was smooth with courteous staff. The room was okay, with a comfortable bed and clean sheets, but my white socks turned black when I took them off to shower. Maybe bring socks. Hallway noise on Friday night didn’t settle down much until after 1 a.m., with quite a few service members there making the most of their weekend pass. It was our second year staying here, but we may try somewhere else next year.

The young man who greeted us was exceptionally kind, professional, thoughtful, and helpful. The location was okay, though there were far too many big semi trucks close to the hotel. The lobby looked decent and smelled nice, but beyond it the odor wasn’t good. Our room felt dark, outdated, and unclean, with too little lighting, a loose door, and an unpleasant smell. There was hair on the towels, a brown spot on the sheets, and the mattress was lumpy and squeaky, so I barely rested. When I plugged in my charger, the whole socket came out of the wall. I was glad I’d packed sheets, towels, gloves, cleaning supplies, and room spray. We stayed only because it was late and I didn’t want my family and me searching for another hotel at night. The photos and mixed reviews hadn’t made it seem that bad, but looks can be deceiving. In the morning, the elevator wouldn’t come, so we had to take the stairs. Breakfast had very little choice, and the grits I tried were nasty. While we were packing, a crooked picture that was barely hanging on the wall fell and scared us. This was a terrible stay, and I won’t return. Guests keep a business going, and the hotel should make the experience comfortable enough that people want to come back. Please do better.
