Tru by Hilton Albany Airport

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the lobby has lots of games and puzzles, plus two foosball tables. Breakfast is available, but the selection is very limited. They didn't refill the food until after they had closed, which was kind of annoying.

The shuttle was clean and the driver was kind, and the hotel entrance looked nicely landscaped. What stood out most, though, was how helpful the two employees were in the early hours after my very late arrival from a long flight. The staff were wonderful. Tru Hilton clearly takes care in hiring supportive people. I wish I'd had time to try the indoor pool.

EDIT FOR MANAGEMENT: This reservation was under my husband's name, and we stayed on 2/25. Please look it up. The staff seemed nice, but we wouldn't stay here again. We chose the hotel because it was close to the airport for our very early flight. From outside it looked fine, but once we got into the room and looked closely, the place felt like a dump. The room was dirty and below standard, with hair in the shower and a bathroom floor that hadn't been cleaned properly. The hallway carpets were old and filthy, and buckets were overflowing in the hall to catch leaking water. I carry a little packet of Lysol wipes when I travel. After wiping the counters and the area by the coffee machine, I held up the dirty wipe in horror and wondered what else had been missed.

I liked staying here when it first opened about four years ago, so this recent visit was a real disappointment. The property seems to have gone downhill in both upkeep and management. Housekeeping came only once during my six-day stay, and when I asked at the front desk in person on day five, nobody came. The soap dispenser in my shower was empty, and a missing seal on the glass shower door let water spread across the floor. There was mold and mildew on the outside of that door. The gym and other shared spaces also looked worn and dirty. One treadmill was marked out of order, while the other stopped working during my stay. I had to unplug it, and its exposed wires and circuit boards looked like a possible electrical hazard. Paint splatter covered the gym scale, as if walls had been touched up without moving it or protecting the floor. A kettlebell was missing from the free weights, the gym hand sanitizer dispenser didn't work, and some shelves looked very dirty. There was also dog crap left in one elevator all day. I had a much better impression of this hotel four years ago.
