Quality Inn Albemarle

Parking right in front of the room was ample and convenient, and being able to bring my pet made travel much easier. The staff were friendly, the rate was reasonable compared with other local hotels, and breakfast was a nice start to the day. I had a comfortable, pleasant stay and would recommend it.

I needed a room for one work night, and this property had one of the higher ratings among the local hotels and motels. Quality Inn – Albemarle, NC (Hwy 24/27 Bypass) is a traditional roadside motel, with doors facing outside, separate buildings, and no interior hallways. The lot was clean, bright, and spacious, and the outdoor areas were maintained. Check-in was at the desk rather than through an app, and the staff member was polite and professional. My bed and linens were clean, and the room was clean enough for a short stay. It had decent lighting by the sink and several outlets and USB ports, though it seemed like items had been taken away over time without replacements. The back building where my room was felt isolated, set away from the office and surrounded by woods. The surface cleaning had been done, but deeper cleaning and basic safety checks had clearly been missed. The smoke detector was hanging disconnected from the ceiling, wires exposed. I later found the detector in the top drawer beneath the TV, along with crackers and someone else’s body spray. The room didn’t seem to have been properly checked after the previous guest. There was visible growth inside the refrigerator, especially on the top shelf of the door, and the plastic tray for the ice bucket and cups was dirty and stained. Silly string residue hung on the wall and door frame over the main entrance. The sink had a large crack across it, and there was a wide gap by the entrance door lock that let cold air blow in. Trash and debris sat behind doors and in corners. The bathroom fixtures were dated and worn, and the ceiling showed signs of old water damage. Breakfast was very basic: a waffle station, dry looking scrambled eggs in an uncovered chafing dish, bread and bagels with a toaster, yogurt, some cereal, and coffee from an automatic concentrate machine. At checkout, the desk employee was very friendly and asked about my stay. I told him about the detector and other major issues. He apologized and said ownership had recently changed and they were working on corrections. I appreciated his honesty and professionalism, and I’m willing to give new management the benefit of the doubt. Still, a disconnected smoke detector, refrigerator growth, and poor room inspection are serious safety and sanitation problems that shouldn’t reach a paying guest, even during a change of ownership. It can work for a short, one-night stay because the parking lot is clean and well lit, the bed was clean, and the staff were friendly. But it has major problems with quality control, maintenance, and safety that need to be addressed. I’ve included photos to document what I found.

The staff were welcoming, friendly, and ready to help with requests, and the location made it easy to get around the area. My room was comfortable, clean, and well maintained. The price felt reasonable for the service and amenities, and I’d happily stay again and recommend it to other travelers.

The free continental breakfast has waffles and eggs, which made for a nice start to the day. Rooms that allow pets are a big plus, and the hotel was clean, well kept, and reasonably priced.
