We found this place when we needed a night in Albuquerque. The rate was a little higher than what the map showed, and our small king room was smaller than king rooms at other hotels, but it did the job for one night. I was surprised it had a dishwasher and full-size refrigerator, and I liked the walk-in shower. Breakfast was great, and the man who checked us in was very kind and courteous. I’d called the reservation line and waited on hold for 10 minutes, by which point we’d driven right up to the front door. He was more than happy to help us get a room. If we stay in the area for a few days, we’ll stay here next time.

Our reservation was moved here from Comfort, and I’m glad it was. The hotel and rooms were very clean, and everything was ready when we arrived. Breakfast was delicious, with chorizo, potatoes, eggs, sausage, waffles, overnight oats, chia pudding, yogurt, and muffins. My only complaints were the beds, which weren’t the greatest, and the hot water. It took about 10 minutes to heat up for our morning showers.

I’m on the road about 300 days a year, and the people are what make the difference. This location has one of the best staffs I’ve had the pleasure of staying with. Everyone was consistently friendly and ready to help make the stay a great one. Top notch, especially Destiny & Barnaby. Best of the best!

I made a phone reservation for a friend passing through, using a new credit card. I gave the card details to book the room and was emailed a receipt for $169.67 including tax. After my friend checked out, my bank’s fraud department called about an attempted Amazon charge. Looking at the transactions, I saw the hotel had charged $222.28, more than the emailed receipt, and someone had tried to use the new card for an Amazon purchase. The card had only been used over the phone with this hotel. I called and spoke to the manager, Nicole. She said her employee wouldn’t have done it and that I’d need to prove it. When I asked whether my credit card statement counted as proof, she lectured me for making the reservation with a card that didn’t have the guest’s name on it. She seemed oblivious to the obvious concern that her employee had taken my card information, as well as the fact I’d been charged more than the receipt showed. It’s crazy that this is a Homewood Suites, since they’re usually pretty respectable.

I paid $178 a night, and the facility and service were horrible. My requested third-floor room was on the first floor, and the hallway rugs were worn and coming apart at the seams. The sofa bed was old and dirty, with a completely worn-out mattress. When I asked about replacing it, staff said policy wouldn’t allow it. The bedroom TV didn’t work either, and staff said they couldn’t replace that because of policy. They didn’t seem to care or help with problems and requests. I’ve stayed at several Homewood Suites over the years for business and pleasure without trouble, but this last weekend in Albuquerque on San Antonio Drive was awful. I think Motel 6 would have been better. Beware, and don’t waste your money.
