Motel 6 Albuquerque, NM - Northeast

We managed about four hours of sleep, then got out as fast as we could. The rooms were small and the building run down. We’d requested non-smoking, but ours reeked of cigarettes, with cigarette butts actually in the AC vent. The beds were stained, nothing looked washed, and the shower seemed questionable. There were cockroaches in the room and the remotes were filthy. People who looked sketchy were walking around at all hours, and we heard yelling outside. The online price wasn’t accurate either, we were charged $80 a night. This was by far the worst Motel 6 we’ve stayed at. A zero-star option would make more sense. Definitely not a pleasant stay, and I don’t recommend it.

The pool had no water in it, and after finding a dead cockroach in the bathroom as soon as we arrived, I asked for a refund and left for the Quality Inn across town. That place was very nice, by the way. Our room smelled awful, and there was a smear on the wall behind the door that looked like feces. The door lock was unreliable, taking several tries for the key card to work. The lobby was bolted shut, and I could barely hear the attendant through the bulletproof glass while checking in. If you can stay anywhere else, do that.

The room and sheets were tolerable, and so far I haven’t seen bugs. Still, the place is really run down, and there’s no fridge or TV remote provided. A lot of people seem to live here. The door stays locked, and the only window faces the ice machines and soda machines, so you can’t hear the girl at all. Maybe having pets is a reason to stay, but I can’t recommend it. I thought the one in tucumcari was bad, but this is worse.

The staff were great and seemed to be doing the best they could. The room was mostly clean, and for one night it was okay. Still, there was blood on the bathroom counter and under the lights, ants in the sink and bathroom, hair on the towels, and we felt like something was biting us, maybe roaches. The window in the door was broken, though not shattered. I can’t blame the motel for the location since they can’t control that. I just wish the room had been cleaner and not bloody, lol.
