Hampton Inn Chicago North-Loyola Station

The breakfast was lovely each morning, and I’d happily come back. My room was great overall, though I found a few stray hairs around the bathroom sink and shower stall on the first day, likely left by a previous guest. I was in town for work and ended up needing to extend the stay because of bad weather. Carlos and Claire at the front desk were especially helpful with that, and manager Ross encouraged me to give them a shout-out. One morning, a fire alarm test went off earlier than it should have and woke several guests, me included. The staff apologized, explained what happened, and took good care of us.

There’s a nice view from the sixth-floor terrace, and the location makes it easy to walk to Loyola, restaurants, and shops. Breakfast changed from day to day, which I appreciated. I don’t usually need much from the front desk, but this time I did, and the staff handled even the little things with care. They seem to enjoy their work and want guests to have a good stay.

I found free street parking during my stay. There’s also valet parking, plus a parking garage a few blocks away. Restaurants are right by the hotel, and the staff were really nice. My room was clean and had everything I needed. Breakfast was good too, with two waffle makers, eggs, omelets, sausage, and potatoes. Great stay for the value, and I’d definitely come back.

The room change helped with the road noise, but sleep was still a problem. On my last morning, a dog was barking down the hall at 6:45, and when I called the desk, they asked me, half asleep, to figure out which room it was before they could do anything. I suggested they come upstairs and listen for themselves. Earlier in the stay, a group of college students had shouted in the hallway outside my room for half an hour. I finally went downstairs at 1:30 a.m. to ask for another room. My calls and message through the Hilton app hadn’t been answered. I’d arrived around 1 a.m. and had asked for a quiet room, but the one I got faced Sheridan and had a lot of traffic noise. The staff were friendly when I spoke to them in person, and the hotel looked clean. I wish I could have had a full night’s sleep and that the noise policy had been enforced. It would also be good if the Hilton app worked at this hotel. I tried to choose a room in the app beforehand, but it didn’t work here.
