Motel 6 Albuquerque, NM - Midtown

The room was what I expected, but the clerk seemed new and there was a computer glitch. I was going to be put on the second floor, which wouldn't work for me. It took a few minutes, but we sorted it out.

This wasn't the best place to stay. They said the deposit refund would take time, so I told them they could either inspect the room right away or take my word for it. I called my bank about the card, and they credited it back immediately. I got a new receipt.

On this trip I stayed at two Motel ^ locations, and both had the front desk closed, so you had to use night check-in. It didn't feel secure. Getting to this hotel was also awkward because there isn't a direct exit. Coming from the west, I had to get off the freeway and drive through several neighborhoods. Leaving was much easier.

The room was pretty standard and having a full-size fridge was a nice plus. Staff were fine, though I only dealt with them at arrival and checkout. But the place felt sketchy: check-in was behind what looked like bulletproof glass, and the guard patrolling wore a vest and carried a handgun with at least four extra magazines. Being prepared is understandable, but that much made me uneasy. I paid $88 for a hotel with the feel of a $40-$60 place. It’s advertised for extended stays, but I barely wanted to spend one night there. I wouldn’t come back.
