La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Alexandria Airport

We slept well here. The room was spacious, the atmosphere was quiet, and the location was convenient. Everyone on staff we spoke with was friendly and helpful, making the Hampton Inn and Suites Alexandria a comfortable stay.

The service and cleanliness here were good, and this Hampton Inn is clean. Hotels in Alexandria can be poor on both counts. This one is outside town and a bit inconvenient, but it’s only a five- or six-minute drive back, so the short trip is worth it. The problem is the HVAC. Every room I’ve stayed in has had a loud unit, and that needs to be fixed. It’s inexcusable in 2026.

We got in around 10 p.m. because our son was having emergency surgery early the next morning. They were out of king rooms, so they upgraded us to a king suite. At first it looked nice, but there was just one hand towel and the shower was dirty, with a used bar of soap left in it. In the lobby, dust covered the curtain rails and items sitting high up. I worked as an executive housekeeper, and this is below standard. We stood around for about ten minutes before a woman checked us in; the man coming onto his shift looked like he hadn’t slept. No one was at the desk the next morning to greet guests or send them off. That’s poor service. Front desk staff should be positive so customers feel satisfied and want to return. Word travels fast, and negative feelings travel even faster. This was an emergency trip for our son’s operation.

I’m packing up for the third time and moving rooms. In the first one, the smell at the door was like mold mixed with wet dog, so I turned around and went straight to the lobby to say the room wasn’t acceptable. The woman at the desk was polite, apologized, and switched me. The next room wasn’t much better: there was a lot of hair in the shower, and after I’d settled in and fallen asleep, a small dog started barking nonstop. The front desk lady apologized again and offered to move me. I told her I don’t want to keep playing musical chairs. I want to sleep. I’m a truck driver in the area a few times a month, and picked this hotel because I expected the “Hilton standard.” This place doesn’t live up to it. We’re only allowed ten hours of rest, and after driving eleven hours today all I wanted was a comfortable bed and some peace and quiet. I have to get back on the road in a few hours and I’m exhausted. I pray I don’t wreck today. Update: I left and checked into the Laquita next door. They greeted me with a smile, and the room was clean and quiet the first time. I’ll definitely book with Laquita again.
