Days Inn by Wyndham Alpena

It was okay, but the rooms need updating. Mine was very large, with no dresser and too few places to sit, even though there was room for two couches. I’d have preferred a safer-feeling place to stay. The exterior doors don’t lock at night.

The room was in bad shape: feces on the side of the bed, a blood stain on the fitted sheet, and roaches. I asked the front desk woman several times how to reach the manager, but she brushed me off. She said she couldn’t call him while I was standing there because he was working out of town at another hotel. She never offered to have the room cleaned again or the sheets changed, and the whole weekend was stressful. She denied there were roaches and said she lived in Florida and that what I saw wasn’t one. It was a German roach. Don’t Google them unless you want nightmares.

Hotwire moved me here from the Ramada, and I’m glad this was where I ended up. The outside isn’t much to look at, but my room was clean, the bathroom was clean, the air conditioner worked, and the WiFi was fast. Check-in was quick and courteous, and the staff got everything sorted out for me. I’d happily come back.

The rooms were really clean and nice, and getting in and out was easy. Breakfast was okay, though it was just a free add-on. The pool looked clean, and the shower was hot. I’d come back.
