Hampton Inn & Suites Alpena

We checked in at 8:20 p.m. after waiting about five minutes at the desk for an employee, who was nice and got us into a room. The WiFi was great, and the room had smart home devices, including a TV, remote, clock, and phone. We slept really well. For breakfast I had a waffle with chocolate chips, which I loved. We left at 10:45 a.m. The view and service were great. There was no maid service, but I made the bed a little before we left. Great choice in Alpena!

My mother’s appointment changed, so I needed to move the date of a stay we’d booked through Hotwire. I tried to change it through both Hotwire and the hotel, but only the hotel was flexible enough to make an exception. Kayla, the General Manager, was patient and professional as she worked through what needed to be done. I appreciate common sense taking priority over procedure. We’ve ended our relationship with Hotwire, but we’ll come back to this hotel.

The staff were so friendly, and the rooms were clean and great. Kelly and, I think, the other employee was named jordis. They were both sweet and really helpful whenever I had a question or needed something. I’d recommend the hotel.

I think Kelly was the person who checked me in, though I hope I’ve got her name right. Her kind, upbeat energy made my night. The hotel still has a new smell and is clean and comfortable. I liked the fitness area and breakfast, especially the potatoes seasoned with rosemary. That was a surprise for a hotel.
