DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta - Alpharetta

The staff were excellent, and I have no complaints about them. But it was hard to make sure the room was feather-free because I’m allergic to down. I’ve had to cancel a reservation here before because the night staff can’t access bedding and can’t handle that kind of request after 5 PM. For such a busy area, management could resolve that quickly. The hotel badly needs an update. The room felt dark, drab, and stuck in the 1970s, especially compared with the much more updated hotels I’ve stayed at along the same strip. The bathroom seemed to have been redone, with a new shower and a reasonably modern vanity, but that didn’t make up for the room. The carpet looked so bad I was afraid to walk on it, like there might be biohazards. One bath towel had a black stain or burn mark, and the bath mat had a hole. I checked in Saturday and left Monday, and didn’t see or smell a single cookie at the front desk. Apparently that’s the norm. I usually love Doubletree hotels, but this property has let the brand promise fall. It’s in a fantastic location with a great staff and a lot of potential. I hope regional and national headquarters invest in it.

The room was clean and comfortable, and fine for a night off the road. But the extras put me off. Breakfast looked good, just not for $16.99 per person, and parking was another $5. There was no WiFi unless you’re a Hilton Blah Blah Blah member. The nickel-and-dime charges and lack of amenities will send me somewhere else next time.

I come to Alpharetta twice a month for work, and this is where I’ll stay. Diane at the DoubleTree by Hilton front desk was warm, compassionate, professional, and made check-in quick and easy. I wasn’t at my best that day, and she went beyond what I expected to accommodate me. Her attention to detail and genuine friendliness made the stay better. She’s a great representative of the Hilton brand.

The place was clean, safe, affordable, and available, and the staff were very friendly. The lobby was very nice, and it was convenient for local food. Still, the furniture in the room looked worn, the property could use an update, and the grounds need some cleanup. I’d probably choose one of the newer Hilton properties nearby next time.
