Americas Best Value Inn-Alva

I won't stay here again. There was a horrible smell outside, though I couldn't tell where it came from, and it was hard to stand outdoors. Inside, the curtains had duct tape on them, the toilet hadn't been cleaned under the lid, and what looked like feces was on the wall below the toilet paper. There was no TV remote at first; the front desk found one, but it didn't work. I've paid less for a much nicer, cleaner room in OKC.

Our company has several custom crews and spends a lot on hotel rooms each year, but we won't give this chain our business anymore. My 19-year-old son manages a custom crew and went to Alva to pick up parts. He arrived around midnight after getting little sleep in the previous 48 hours and just needed a room for a few hours. Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn were booked, so I called around and sent him to Americas Best Value, which had a room. They turned him away because he wasn't 21 and didn't have someone 21 staying with him. He's traveled around Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado, and has checked into numerous hotels on his own and for his crew. The chain management barely responded to my complaint. Local management said they were sorry for the inconvenience, but their policy was not to rent to anyone under 21 unless a person 21 or older stayed with them.

We ended up staying an extra night because we liked it so much. The room was very clean and comfortable, and that king bed was heavenly. WiFi and breakfast were great, and we were the only ones using the pool. The staff were helpful and really nice. I'd happily stay again.

We couldn't use the pool, or I'd have given it five stars. The room was spacious, the property clean, and the staff personable. It was super inexpensive, too. We were very pleased and will definitely come back when we're in the area.
