Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Alvarado by IHG

The staff were friendly and sociable, which was the only nice part of my visit. I booked two nights but left after the first and stayed with family instead. My room had a leaking toilet and little roaches. The desk had no bug spray when I asked, so I went to the store and bought some to spray the room myself. I also saw dead roaches in the alarm box by the elevators and in the elevator light fixture. I was deeply disappointed. I usually stay at Holiday Inn when I travel, and this hotel didn’t meet that standard.

The breakfast and staff were great, but the hotel is very outdated. The water pressure is poor, and there isn’t enough hot water for everyone. The TVs are literally 25 inches and need a serious upgrade, along with the mattresses. The AC units need updating too because they don’t work very well.

Way overpriced. This is maybe the worst Holiday Inn Express I’ve seen, so keep driving. The woman at check-in seemed annoyed about getting up to find my reservation. Roughnecks were drinking beer in the lobby and hollering at the game. The hall floors were filthy, and the elevator was sticky and smelled funky. The room carpet wasn’t great either. The AC wheezed and struggled to hold 72, there was mildew in the shower, and really the whole building smelled of mildew. It had more of a motor lodge feel.

Our home flooded, and staying at Holiday Inn in Alvarado during that unexpected mess made things so much easier. The staff were understanding and flexible, and the customer service was fantastic. I have no complaints. I’d stay there again just because.
