Comfort Inn & Suites Amarillo West Near Medical Center

The hard, uncomfortable beds cost this place a full star from me. Neither my wife, our 12 year old, nor I slept well, and even trying the floor didn't help. I'd rather hotels spend on comfortable beds than extra dressers or fancy lights. Aside from that, it was a typical Comfort Inn and I didn't have other real complaints. The mini fridge didn't work, and the elevator sounded like it might break, but neither really bothered us. We stayed overnight on a January 2026 trip. A little under four stars, but I can't give it 3.5.

There wasn't anyone at the desk when we arrived, even though we had an online reservation. We waited, looked around, and called, but got no answer. Eventually a girl came out, with a man right behind her who walked straight out the door. She seemed high, was slow to respond, and couldn't answer basic questions. We left. They also have no luggage trolleys because people are allowed to keep them in their rooms. Now we're dealing with Choice Customer Service to cancel the reservation.

The room and suite were clean and just fine, and the front staff gave good service. A couple of odd things stood out: the jacuzzi looked like it had no demand, so they'd just removed the jets, and the trash can was placed on top of the toilet. That was practical, given how small the bathroom was. Otherwise, it's a good place if the price compares well with others nearby.

Our two-queen room was hot and uncomfortable because the AC didn't work. When we told the front desk, the attendant didn't look for another room and just suggested opening a window, which didn't help. Check-in felt unprofessional too. The attendant was watching TV behind the counter with the volume up. We'd requested extra pillows and a comforter when booking, but they weren't provided. My husband went downstairs to ask for them, and the attendant brought them from the housekeeping area barefoot, dropped the pillows on the floor, and didn't replace them. We arrived late and were exhausted, so didn't get to use the pool, hot tub, or fitness room. Breakfast was okay, nothing memorable. The stay was uncomfortable and poorly handled, and we wouldn't come back.
