Spark by Hilton Amarillo West

I’m sitting in my room now and can’t wait to leave in the morning. At 20:45, while I was lying on the bed, someone came into the room with cases and started trying to wheel them inside. I can’t see the door from the bed, but I heard them. They left once they realized the room was occupied. I went to reception to ask why someone had been assigned my room, and was told it was probably housekeeping. Why would housekeeping be entering my room, or anyone’s room, at 20:45? Earlier, I was first given a room that hadn’t been serviced. After that, they moved me to one that had been serviced, but it looked out onto a wall. That wasn’t a big deal by comparison. Cleanliness, service, and facilities can vary, but guest security should never be compromised. I don’t expect these concerns to be addressed, since the hotel seems to give the same stock reply to guests who leave poor reviews. Just look at those reviews and the identical responses.

The room stunk of mildew and body odor as soon as I walked in. The front desk person was very sweet, but couldn’t move us until the manager approved it. The elevator was filthy, and the bathroom laminate flooring was coming up. It felt like a refurbished Motel, not a Hilton experience. I couldn’t wait to leave and will never stay here again.

We got in late on May 17th after driving, and checking in was awful. The front desk lady was more focused on FaceTiming her brother, who needed money, than helping people who needed to check in. She also quoted me $100 more than the amount in the email. When I asked why, she said it was because of the $50 hold. How does a $50 hold add $100? The math isn’t mathing. The hallways smelled like WEED. In the morning, when we were checking out, we found someone’s dirty leftover eyelashes on the bed. Now I’m wondering whether the room had been cleaned properly before we slept there. I’ll never be back.

For breakfast there were only bread and coffee. They said the supply truck was late, and after waiting for more than an hour, I left. The bathroom also had used towels. There was no microwave in the room; when I asked, they said people stole them, so they’d removed them and would bring one back if needed. Just a hotel, and not maintained. I’d avoid it next time.
