Not a single staff member walked by without greeting me. One woman I saw every morning gave me a strong “good morning, blessed and highly favored, have a great day!” She made my day every single time. I had a small issue the first night, but after I spoke with the manager, she made it right.

I arrived really late, but the night auditor still let me check in and made me feel welcome. Check-in was fantastic, and the staff were super friendly and helpful throughout. The room was immaculate. I even use my own black light to check hotels after a gross experience at a 5star NYC hotel many years ago. The king room was huge and modern. It was just me, but there was also a living room with a fold out sofa bed for a larger group. A Tesla supercharger is about 100 feet from the hotel. I drive through Amarillo often, and this is easily the best hotel I’ve stayed at here so far. The price was slightly lower than average compared with other local hotels, and the cleanliness, friendly service, and central location make it a great find. I’ll book here on my next Amarillo visit. Highly recommend!

My kids had been looking forward to the stay all summer, and after I spent hours getting the family ready, they were crushed. I’d won a free raffle ticket, and I have a small 15 lb chihuahua. I should have asked about the pet policy, but other hotels have never given me trouble, and I brought his crate in case since he’s crate trained. He’s well behaved and obedient, though I understand that isn’t always the case. When we arrived, it felt like we were bothering the staff. They didn’t seem to care about giving us directions on what to do next. I suppose that might be because we were free guests. They charged my partner’s card a fee even though we didn’t stay or see the room. The bar area looked nice, but staff didn’t offer any alternatives, like booking another night or giving us time to think about whether we might stay in the future. The location is awful and not easy to find. I’ll never consider another Marriott stay. I’m a social worker with the homeless population, so maybe I’ll give it to someone who doesn’t usually have a warm bed. I’ve never been spoken to so condescendingly or treated as if I were stupid by someone in a service position. I’d never treat a customer or person in such a demeaning way.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I checked in around 5pm and found food crumbs, a large white stain on the couch, and the closet mirror face down on the floor, apparently fallen from the back of the closet. I told the front desk in person because the phones were out, then left after about 10 minutes. When I got back around 10:30pm, the couch had been cleaned but the mirror was still down. Its break had left glass shards in the carpet, so after several more trips to the front desk, again because the room phones were out, I had to vacuum them up myself. I went to bed after the front desk employee said they’d contact the manager for a morning solution. Instead, the housekeeping manager doubted me, accused me of making up the story, insulted me personally, and was rude. I barely got to explain the other problems I discovered that night: thick dust on the TV and shelf, the fridge cabinet falling off its hinges, and a shower seal with a small hole in the bottom corner that leaked water all over the bathroom. After arguing with me, the manager comped my one night. I would much rather have had a normal hotel stay without all the personal and professional frustration. The hotel seems busier than its staffing can handle, which makes any room or guest issues worse.
