Holiday Inn Express & Suites Napa American Canyon by IHG

We picked this place for the price and because it was conveniently located for our sightseeing. We visited Old Faithful Geyser and a redwoods forest about an hour away, then drove toward Napa and the east entrance of Pinnacles National Park. There were plenty of parking spots, including accessible ones, but the lot was poorly lit and very dark. I felt uneasy leaving our things in the car overnight, so we brought everything inside. The car was fine the next day. Service was great, and the rooms were okay for the price. In the first room, which had one bed, the lamp didn’t work and a handle was broken. In the second room, the closet light was missing a bulb: the switch showed it was on, but it didn’t light up. Neither bathroom had extra toilet paper, and the rolls that were there weren’t new. One bathroom door was broken and hadn’t been fixed. The rooms had a mini fridge and microwave, but I didn’t see why they charged around $10 extra for them. I paid the first night because I didn’t understand the fee, then didn’t pay when I rented the same hotel room on the second day and got the same setup included. I’ve had those amenities included at other Holiday Inn Express Hotels. Breakfast was okay, but the seating area is small. Since our rooms were on the first floor both days, we took breakfast back to our rooms. We went down around 8:30 on Monday and Tuesday, and both times there wasn’t enough food during breakfast hours. It didn’t look like anyone was replenishing it. One day we got a couple of sausages and pancakes, and the next we had an omelet and potatoes after waiting for the kitchen staff to add more, which they never did.

I’d highly recommend this place. It’s in a convenient spot near Napa, in a plaza with food and shopping, and the price was affordable. The staff handled everything with a smile, and they had what I needed. Breakfast was delicious with a good range of options. Probably the best affordable hotel stay I’ve had.

We stayed for about a week for a family event and had several rooms among the family. The rooms, breakfast, and other parts of the stay were average overall. Three of the front desk staff, though, were extremely helpful and gave great customer service.

My wife and I work in entertainment and spend a lot of time traveling. Our clients pay for our accommodations, so we choose IHG (Holiday Inn hospitality group) properties when we can. They’ve consistently given us clean, comfortable, pleasant places to stay at prices that don’t break the bank for our clients. I’ve been a member for 20+ years, and the IHG rewards program is excellent. Napa Valley has high standards, with many people considering the region the center of the universe for fine wine. Wine Country visitors expect a lot, and the Holiday Inn Express in American Canyon delivers that level of service at an affordable price. We highly recommend it for all those reasons.
