Holiday Inn Anderson by IHG

We were in town for a few days over Thanksgiving to visit family. The location was handy, close to everything, and the women on staff were really nice. The room was otherwise clean, but the tile floors felt sticky when we arrived. I considered leaving, then grabbed cleaning supplies from my mom’s house and cleaned the tile myself. We just made sure not to walk barefoot. The bathrooms are a little small compared with other places, though the building is older and has been updated. Breakfast cost $15 per person, so we skipped it. This was the first Holiday Inn I’ve stayed at that didn’t include free breakfast. It’s a fair place in a convenient spot in town.

The breakfast was good, and the attendant was friendly. We had no choice but to stay because the hotel was fully booked, though the room was filthy. There were wrappers, used tissues, and Skittles on the floor, and debris stuck to our feet when we climbed into bed. The floors hadn’t even been looked at, let alone vacuumed. The bathroom was sticky, with a large spill on the counter that had dripped onto the floor. Dirt and hair were scattered across the bathroom floor, and there was pink and black mold in the shower. The toilet took a while to flush. The AC cover was broken and wouldn’t close, leaving mold inside exposed. When the AC kicked on during the night, it made a loud, awful noise that woke everyone. It also took a while to shut off even after we turned it off at the thermostat.

The rooms were clean, the gym was quiet and tidy, and there were lots of shared spaces for groups or meeting friends. The breakfast was better than most, with real eggs, thick crispy bacon, and strong coffee. The helpers were super friendly, kept refilling our coffee, and cleared the dishes. It’s a great place and fairly priced.

The pool was fun, and the gym was in good shape. Staff were super friendly, and our clean room had the nice touch of Dove products. The Holiday Inn is very clean and conveniently located near restaurants and shopping. Our favorite part was the breakfast buffet. I only wish they’d offered it on Labor Day too. A great hotel to stay at.
