Holiday Inn Express Anderson-I-85 (Exit 27-Hwy 81)

I booked this Holiday Inn Express to sleep there, but the condition of the property put me off. The renovation work hadn’t been clearly explained in advance. I only saw a small sign at the front desk, then noticed the construction throughout the building. The hallway looked like an active work zone, with flooring partly removed or covered and some areas blocked off. From my room, the view was straight onto several storage containers, materials, and debris. They offered to move me, but the rooms I was shown had their own problems: heavy dust on the air vent and AC parts, visible staining around the tub drain, ceiling patches that looked unfinished, and rust or brown stains on the bathroom fixtures. There were marks and wear on the doors and frames too, making the rooms feel poorly maintained. With the overall condition and the impact of the renovations, I didn’t feel comfortable staying, so I cancelled and left. Staff offered a room change, but that didn’t fix the underlying issues.
