Fairfield Inn By Marriott Ann Arbor

I spent four nights at the Fairfield Inn Ann Arbor in March. The older building didn't bother me, especially with the good rate and such a clean room. I'm particular about beds and sheets, and both were better than I expected. The staff were very friendly and made an extra effort to help with my request. Xavier especially stood out.

The front desk person was helpful when I had to switch rooms, but it was a poor stay overall. The first room was full of ants, which I only noticed after unpacking. In the replacement room, the shower head had been fitted badly and sprayed water out the side. They moved me to a room with a loveseat instead of a chair, which left me wondering why I hadn't been upgraded at check-in as a gold member, since I thought that was automatic. It's much cheaper than other nearby hotels, and you can see why.

The staff are great, and it looks like they're renovating the fourth floor. The third-floor rooms could use some attention, though. The bathrooms are a bit dated and the beds are getting uncomfortable. Still a pleasant place for the price.

Some days are just heavy. I was grieving my brother and getting ready to say goodbye to my aunt at her funeral, and my emotions were all over the place. In the middle of that, Xavier was gentle, kind, and understanding. He showed me the kind of Marriott care I've experienced many times, and his compassion really stood out that day. It meant more to me than he could know. May God bless him abundantly. Xavier, some superheroes wear a Marriott shirt!
