The property itself was pretty, clean, and well kept, but the missing beach was a huge disappointment. This was our first trip to Anna Maria Island and first stay at the Rod and Reel Pier Resort. We had Suite 4, which was extremely small, though it had the basics we needed and a tiny but helpful kitchenette. The suite photos were accurate. The outdoor photos on the website, though, haven't been updated since the last hurricane, and there's no beach behind the resort. We felt misled and think the pictures need updating so guests know what to expect. The self check-in was less than desirable. We got door codes, but no customer service. Nobody showed us around, explained the amenities, or cleaned our room. Towels and toilet paper were on a rolling cart outside in the courtyard for guests to take, but it was only put out during the day, so day trips could mean missing it entirely. The price and the word 'resort' didn't match our expectations or experience. I noticed the website had only five-star reviews. When I tried to submit my three-star review, I got a message saying there was a problem posting. Hmmm. It's a beautiful facility, but with no beach and zero customer service, the self-service setup is nowhere near a resort experience.

Our rooms were spotless and comfortable, and we had a beautiful ocean view. The staff were friendly and attentive, and it was convenient to have restaurants nearby. The resort also has fun things to do, like kayaking and biking. Amazing experience, highly recommend!

The room itself was 4⭐️, but management was nowhere to be found and no help. We won't come back unless something is done about the management. After reading other TripAdvisor comments, we would never have booked if we'd known. On arrival in the rain, my girlfriend and son were stuck dealing with the wrong key code for two hours. The TV barely worked, and another customer named Steve helped us. There was no manager on site during the trip. When we raised our unhappiness as we were leaving, I couldn't even tell whether the person there was a manager or maintenance, since nobody was around except the maid. His temper, Ty, was bad. After we said we'd call the owners, he punched the black hood of an SUV. He got in my girlfriend's face, along with her son, who has autism, and it became more threatening. They got into their car. As I got into my truck across the street, the neighbor and the manager got into it with me. I told the manager my girlfriend had spent $3000 on a trip that was supposed to be peaceful through the end. He said he wasn't clocked in and asked if I wanted to handle it with him by fighting in the road. I'm a disabled veteran. My girlfriend has owned over 15 properties, and she'd never had a manager handle things like this. The customer is always right, and his behavior was very disrespectful. I can see Ty screwing up a company with actions like that. We have witnesses to what happened at the resort. The people we met were close friends with the owners and were from Michigan. The maid was the only helpful person we encountered, and she was the one who let my girlfriend and son in on day one. We've made numerous calls and sent emails, but haven't had one answer or reply. Very disappointing trip. I'll only take this post down if action is taken toward your management.

Spring break brought plenty of doors slamming, even during the night. We chose the place partly because its website advertised a private beach, but there wasn’t any beach left. Maybe the last hurricane took it away. The room itself was nice, just a little tight.

The Rod and Reel Resort has a quiet, intimate feel right on the water at Anna Maria Island. The beach and private dock gave us lovely spots for photos, and the staff were welcoming, helpful, and easy to work with as a vendor. They cared about making things go smoothly for the couple. It feels relaxed but still elegant, and could be a lovely choice for a wedding or elopement that feels personal.
