Best Western Annapolis

The rooms were clean and comfortable, though a little dated, and being pet friendly is a big plus for me. Andrew at check-in was friendly and gave me useful information about the area and places to eat.

The staff were nice, but the stay was disappointing. We booked at the last minute because we wanted to spend the rest of the day and night exploring Annapolis, and just needed a decent hotel with a pool. The listing said there was one. It was the second week of September, with temperatures still in the mid-80s, but at check-in we found out the pool was closed for the season. The room was a dump. The main door frame was smashed, and when we put the security chain on at night, the wood it was attached to fell off the wall. The bathroom door had dried snot all over it, including boogers painted over. It was gross. For a similar rate, we could have stayed next door at a bright, clean-looking hotel with an open pool, and would have gladly done that if we’d known. I would even have paid more for a nice room with a pool. I simply didn’t get what I paid for.

We found cockroaches in the bed and shower. After killing many, I took a picture and video of the ones in the shower. I also spoke to the front desk, but the response seemed like this was business as usual. They offered only a $10 refund for a room where you can’t sleep. I tried talking with them, but it seemed this was just how things went there. It’s sad because we’d stayed here many times, but I guess we’ll find somewhere else now.

The room at the Best Western Annapolis was clean and comfortable, and I slept great. The location was exactly right for what I needed, and service was friendly and helpful. But there wasn’t a coffee maker in the room. Without caffeine, my morning turned into a half-asleep search through the halls before I could function. So it was a great stay, but if you need coffee before you can even spell “coffee,” bring your own travel kit or be ready for an early morning adventure.
