Black Horse Motel

Roaches in the rooms, a gross shower, and rooms that need renovating. Drug users knocked on my door asking for drugs. The heater worked great, at least. For $80, this place is only awesome if you’re absolutely homeless. 🤢🤷🏾‍♀️

The room I visited was huge, and both the kitchen and bathroom were bigger than I expected. Management was friendly and accommodating. The location is a little odd but easy enough to find, with stores, restaurants, and public transportation within two blocks. Parking, though, was tight and limited. Watch out for the three speed bumps at the entrance and exit. They can make your vehicle bottom out and damage the undercarriage. Go slowly and take them at an angle.

The place is rundown, most rooms are smoking rooms, and it’s in a strange part of town. I can’t say anything positive about it. I was directed to the Black Horse Well because I had plans in the area. First I met the son, then the father, then the mother, and each tried separately to confuse me on the pricing and upsell me. It got insulting and exhausting, so I took my money and left. Don’t waste your time.

I called because I have a bad knee and need a handicap-style room with a shower and no tub. The person answering the phone seemed unable to speak English. After I explained what I needed, there was silence, then he kept saying I needed a tub. I repeated that I needed a shower, no tub. More silence, then he said yes again. I couldn’t tell if he was talking to someone else to figure it out. He quoted $80, though the internet listed $76, then said there was a $20 deposit that had to be cash. I doubt I’d get that deposit back. Why cash? That’s $100 for a low-level room. I said no thanks and would call elsewhere. I’m old and have never paid a cash deposit in my life. It seems like a scam to skim money from the rooms.
