Comfort Inn Arcata - Humboldt Area

We stayed two nights with our family of six and were comfortable. The price was low, the pool and hot tubs were nice, and our room at the end of the hall was quiet. There was a strange smell in the room, but we were satisfied overall and would probably come back.

We had a great stay and found it very affordable. The room was clean and comfortable, and the pool and hot tub were fine. Breakfast was pretty standard, but we liked it: waffles, pastries, fruit, cereal, milk, yogurt, sausage, potatoes, eggs, coffee, and juice.

The pool and continental breakfast were the highlights, and aside from one problem we enjoyed the stay. The rooms are about what you'd expect at most hotels. The beds were a bit hard, though the service had been great and the kids loved the pool. While we were packing the car before checkout, housekeeping started cleaning our room. We had left shoes on the bathroom counter to pick up, but they were gone when we returned, and nobody knew where they were. Now I have to replace them, and I'm unhappy about it. I'm also unsure why the room was being cleaned before we had checked out. My wife asked whether housekeeping should be in the room before checkout and was told they shouldn't. Because of this, I'm lowering my service rating to three stars.

I'm in room 243. The bathroom smells like mildew, maybe from a leak, and the hotel is sold out so I can't switch rooms. The beds are hard, but that's good for my back, and there are four pillows. There's a fridge and microwave, with ice just around the corner. Breakfast was decent, and Subway and Round Table are down the street. There are a lot of strange looking people in this part of the state, but I caught three surf perch in 15 minutes at Clam Beach.
