Branson Royal Inn & Suites

I’m stuck in my room right now because there aren’t many hotels with vacancies, and with a 4 month old I don’t have time to find another place. The room shown when booking doesn’t match what we got. The TV looks like it came from a thrift store, and the hotel phone doesn’t work because there isn’t even a line connecting it to the wall. The sheets are stained. Maybe they’re clean, maybe they aren’t. People at the outdoor pool were playing rap music loudly and drinking beer. The water looked misty. Maybe the indoor pool is cleaner. Outside, the hotel looks dumpy and trashy, with actual trash around. The curtains don’t close all the way, so from bed we can see the ferris wheel. That’s a stretch for a “great view of the strip.” I thought $66 sounded like a good deal, but it wasn’t. Pay whatever it takes to avoid having your trip ruined and writing a review an hour and a half after check-in because the stay is so unbelievable and disappointing.

The AC wasn’t working and there weren’t enough towels, but Ross at the front desk was very helpful and sorted out my complaints. Amos, the maintenance man, also helped me find my way around the property. I didn’t realize there was plenty of parking behind the three-story building with the pool, on the other side. I wish I’d known during my visit, though some people do know about the back parking. I wasn’t fond of the two-story section, which felt a little shady. Still, I had a great stay in room 502. The mattress was a bit worn but comfortable, and I slept well.

Worst hotel stay ever. When we arrived, the man at the counter tried to charge more than our reservation price and at first refused to honor the booking. I told him the contract was the law and he had to stick to the price. He stomped out, and a young woman finished checking us in. The ticket still showed a little over a dollar extra, but we paid it just to get away from them. The indoor pool was freezing, while the indoor hallways were hot and steamy. There wasn’t even a coffee pot in the room. I can understand no fridge or microwave, but a coffee pot? My daughter bought chips from the vending machine too, but they seemed old and tasted bad. We’ll never stay there again.

The desk guy told me I’d get a refund because I was unhappy with the room, and said a manager would call. Neither happened. When I called, the manager yelled that rooms sometimes don’t get cleaned when they’re too busy. She also said she couldn’t find who had rented a room, so couldn’t refund me even with a receipt, then hung up. The room itself smelled strongly of mold, the air barely worked, and the bedding looked like it hadn’t been washed in a while. There was no toilet paper or tissue, the TV had one channel, and there was no Wi-Fi. We were on the second floor, and the elevator wasn’t working. The rooms were very dirty.
