Booking and paying cash for each stay works great, and the resort is nice with clean rooms and very fair prices. The only room complaint I have is the old-fashioned spring bed, which was too firm. Don't buy into the timeshare or vacation club, though. It's not an investment for your family!

This place has gone downhill since Holiday Inn bought it, and it doesn't seem the money is going toward maintaining the facilities. The rooms are average, and the parent company always seems to be looking for cost cuts. The fireplaces used to work, but now they've got decorative inserts that don't give off heat, even though you can turn them on to simulate flames. What's the point? Also, the fire panel keeps needing a reset every few hours. Unless we call, it beeps constantly until someone temporarily resets it. That means something's wrong with the fire panel, which is more than annoying, it doesn't feel safe. It's a timeshare, and even if you pay for just one night, expect a hard sell on promotional offers. At check-in, they send you across the room to the promotions desk to get your keys "activated." Kinda shady.

There's plenty to do with family without ever leaving the resort. The photo is for The Office fans 😂. Our first rooms were on the ground level, and we didn't like them, so the staff moved us higher up to get a balcony. They didn't have to do that since we'd booked those rooms online and it was our mistake, so we appreciated them fixing it for us.

I checked in around 2pm, I think, and left the room around 8 that same evening. I didn't touch anything, just sat outside, and forgot my shirt on top of the couch when I checked out. The room was left just as I found it, and the shirt should've been impossible to miss. That night, I called to say I was leaving and had forgotten something that meant a lot to me. I asked them to note it in the system so it wouldn't get lost, or to send housekeeping to retrieve it. Two weeks later, the shirt was nowhere to be found. It cost me $120 and held a lot of memories. I loved this place and had stayed several times, but I feel forced to leave one star. I blame the lack of accountability for things disappearing instead of being taken to lost and found, though I can't know exactly what happened. Thanks, Holiday Hills, for keeping your employees accountable. The loss and the memories matter more to me than this one-star review, but I wanted to bring it to your attention so others might not go through the same thing. If you know you've left something behind and can't return for it, tell them to send housekeeping to get it right away. Otherwise, good luck getting it back, it may disappear like it was never there.

The rooms were a big disappointment. The carpet and tile were filthy, and the toilets were extremely low. It's time for an update to the 21st century. No Keurig coffee maker, either. Being brand new members, why do we have to get the "lowest class" rooms? As RCI members, we didn't get rooms like the ones shown during the three- or four-hour tour when we signed up. I'm so sorry we joined.
