For what’s available around John Day, I’d give The Sunset Inn in John Day, Oregon three stars, even though it’s listed as a two star place. It’s quiet at night, with parks and places to eat close enough to walk to. The rooms have a fridge and coffee maker, there’s lots of parking, and pets are welcome. A nice family keeps everything clean and tidy.

The guy running the place was great. He’d even get up at 4am to check me in if that’s what I needed. The rooms are basic, but they weren’t dirty. I’d give the location three stars, though. John Day is the worst place in Oregon.

It was quiet around the motel, and we felt safe and comfortable in the room. The beds were really comfortable, and everything was nice and clean. Check-in was quick and easy, and the clerk was friendly and helpful. It’s conveniently close to downtown. We’d definitely stay here again when visiting John Day Oregon.

The guy at the counter seemed like he was scared ice was on the way for him. He quickly shoved a key into my hand and rushed me out the door to an unclean room.

The owners were really nice, and our room to the right of the office had recently been spruced up. The place looked a little sketchy when we arrived, but it turned out better than we expected. They put the money where it mattered, with crisp white linens and comfortable beds.
