Motel 6 Arcata, CA - Cal Poly Humboldt

I've always liked staying at Motel 6 arcata, and the clean, quiet, comfortable room made this visit relaxing too. I was in town for a night while looking for a room, and Nick, the agent on the kiosk, was professional and very helpful. He found me an affordable room quickly, and his friendly manner made check-in easy. I'll choose this place again when I'm in town.

The room was clean and in very good shape, and I had a pleasant stay. The toilet seat was very loose, so I tightened it myself, and those nylon bolts could easily snap. The bathroom sink is loose too and will likely get worse with use, so I expect trouble if it isn't tightened. This is one of the better Motel six franchises I've stayed at. I've mostly given up on the chain, but places like this might change my mind.

I used to find Motel 6 pretty decent and liked that this one is near the highway and takes pets without an extra fee, but my last stay was a big disappointment. The room felt less cozy with so few fixtures, and the bathroom looked like a torture room from Saw. It may have been clean, but it didn't look or feel that way. The TV was out the first night, though the owner fixed it quickly, and I liked having a fridge and microwave. The bed was comfy. Remote check-in was kind of cool, maybe, but also felt cold and impersonal. Maybe management changed? I don't think I'll return.

The TV shut itself off for some reason, and my key card kept failing, so I had to go back to the front desk again and again. In the parking lot, people had open containers and stood next to my vehicle as if they owned it. The manager seemed to ignore it. This was my last Motel 6. Things keep getting worse.
