Arcola Inn

The rooms were clean, and the motel is close to restaurants in a safe area. It's a humble place, but the staff were very nice and accommodating.

I was there for less than 20 minutes. The room smelled terrible and looked run down and gross. After we'd been out all day, I went to bed and saw bedbugs. I told the woman, and she acted as if I were lying, so I brought her to the room. She picked up the bedbug and said nothing. I'd asked for a refund, and she gave me the money, but then tried to get it back so she could put it on my card instead. I said no, I wasn't going to wait for her to process it after they couldn't provide a room without bedbugs.

I found a bedbug on the bed late that night or early the morning we left. Check-in had already been frustrating: the door was locked when I arrived, and I waited in my car outside the window for an hour before I noticed the woman there. She gave me the room but didn't tell me the checkout time. On checkout day, they called two minutes after checkout, just as we'd woken up. We asked for a little time and were told 10:30. At 10:30 they called the room again. We were taking our things to the vehicle, and when I came around the corner, they were on the phone, I think with the police, trying to get someone to help remove us. I handed over my keys and they didn't say anything. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The rooms are big, with great cable and AC, and it's pet friendly, which is a big plus. The owners are very nice and keep the place clean, quiet, and up to date. I'll return whenever I'm visiting IL.
