The owners are lovely and live right on-site. It’s a quiet, affordable motel, and the rooms, though small, are clean and comfortable. Henderson college campus is an easy walk away. I’d stay here again if I need a night in Arkadelphia.

I called to ask about a double room, and the attendant wouldn’t tell me the price over the phone. He said I’d have to drive up there to find out. The call started with him answering “hello” and asking “what?” when I asked if there were vacancies. Very rude. I’d rather pay more to deal with decent people. I guess this scum bag was going to set my rate based on how I looked.

The room had two beds, and the TV ran Rambo all night, which was a plus. First Blood: Part II was only okay, though the helicopter fight at the end helped, and Rambo III is starting!!! My rating for my time at the College Inn matches the movies: four stars for First Blood, 2.5 for First Blood: Part II, and five for Rambo III. A few room details stood out. There were two copies of the tasteful mid-19th-century painting “Mission Viejo III” on the same wall in room 9. The sheets weren’t Egyptian cotton, but were almost indistinguishable. The deadbolt didn’t work, and the slide-bolt had been removed and replaced with a “Black Ice” air freshener. At first I thought that was bad, but after a few deep breaths, the freshener seemed more necessary than the bolt. There was no phone, which did mean my mom couldn’t call all night to brag about her new boyfriend. The overhead light needs a cover. The toilet was rounder than I like, since I’m partial to an oval bowl, and the shower’s pull-up bar felt weak. I’d like to see a maximum weight warning for it. At least it’s not a long fall. I’m still not sure why a “NO SMOKING” room needs a smoke detector.

I paid $350 for two weeks, but on the last day I came back to find my door locked, and they said I owed more money. They threatened to call the police, so I called them myself. They never came because they said it was a civil matter. The people here are rude and even said I couldn’t have my own family visit. Don’t stay there.
